From: brewnoserii@gmail.com              It's just one of the reasons that support for your party is dropping in       Ontario.       And it reinforces what an arrogant prick you are, and just how divisive your       government has been for this country. May you be defeated in the very ridings       you're trying to bribe.       __________________________________________       Globe & Mail - July 22, 2015                     Funds for Tory riding in Toronto not on *Ontario's* wish list                     The Conservative government has awarded $18.4-million to a project in a       Conservative MP's Toronto-area riding - again bypassing Ontario's wish list of       nearly 115 infrastructure projects.              The Wednesday announcement was the second time in a month that Prime Minister       Stephen Harper and his team have gone into the Greater Toronto Area on their       own to make funding announcements under the New Building Canada Fund without       involving the province.              Ontario officials say they heard about the planned announcement only on       Tuesday through a press release.              This announcement comes as Mr. Harper and his Conservative government are       poised to call an election which must be held by Oct. 19. Ontario is       considered a key battleground for votes - in fact, some national pollsters       predict that the outcome of the        election could be decided in the province.              Mark Adler is the Conservative MP for the riding where the announcement is       being made. Finance Minister Joe Oliver, Toronto Mayor John Tory and       Centennial College vice-president Brad Chapman attended.              Premier Kathleen Wynne's Liberal government is not popular with the federal       Conservatives. Her government made $2.5-billion in requests under the new       fund - and believed that it would be consulted about which projects would go       forward. It also        expected that the projects would be jointly announced.              So far, however, this has not been the case. Earlier this month, Mr. Lebel       announced a $26.9-million contribution to a new research building at the       University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa.              Wednesday's announcement provides funding to expand the aerospace program at       Centennial College. In 2013, the provincial government announced $26-million       for the same project.              A provincial official told The Globe and Mail on Wednesday that while funding       is always welcome, the province is concerned with the way in which the federal       government is ignoring its requests - for transit and highways - and       supporting other projects.              Ms. Wynne criticized the federal government over its practice in a recent       interview with The Globe. She characterized it as a "huge problem" and       "unworkable."              Ontario Economic Development Minister Brad Duguid sent a letter to       Infrastructure Minister Denis Lebel in early July expressing his "extreme       disappointment" over the lack of consultation.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
