|    Generic - Medical Marijuana    |
|    21 Nov 15 13:30:33    |
A generic is a consumer product having no brand name or registered trademark.       Canadians first saw generics in the grocery business. More recently generics       have arrived in the pharmaceutical industry.               For example a tablet of penicillin that has the same ingredients as its       Canadian brand name counterpart can be purchased in India for $0.15. The brand       name product in Canada costs $2.00 a tablet. Since the introduction of generic       drugs to Canada, when a        prescription is being filled, a pharmacist must ask the consumer if they would       like a generic drug, rather than a brand named drug, if it is being stocked.              Why shouldn't the same rules apply in the medical marijuana business as are       being applied in the pharmaceutical business? Generic medical marijuana can be       purchased in China for a few cents a gram. Currently in Canada medical       marijuana dispensaries are        charging between $5 and $13.50 per gram.               For Boomers who once bought an ounce of grass for $20, here is a quick       conversion. There are 28 grams in an ounce. Generation Y folks who are       suffering from pain and have been prescribed medical marijuana are being       charged between $140 and $378 an ounce.              Why should medical marijuana dispensaries be allowed to hide behind a       government granted monopoly and gouge sick people like that? It's time for the       medical marijuana industry in Canada to be brought under control. A first step       would be the introduction        of generic medical marijuana from China.               JL 11-21-15              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
