|    Maurice Duplessis & His Harem    |

Maurice Duplessis was the Premier of Quebec for 21 years and a Quebec       politician for 30 years. During my time studying at Laval U in Quebec City, I       had the opportunity to talk politics with a number of my friends' parents &       grandparents. Duplessis was a        favorite topic with them as they had lived it.              Duplessis rented the whole top floor of the Chateau Frontenac, which is almost       across from Quebec's National Assembly. Maurice kept 17 young women       permanently in residence and had them on the government payroll as       administrative assistants.              In addition to his own nightly exploits, many political favors were paid by a       free pass to his lair. If a girl became pregnant she was given to one of his       men and then replaced. One old grandmother said that 50 of his children ended       up in orphanages in        Quebec City.              The Quebec City Sun printed numerous featured on Duplessis over the years.       Women who left his harem often sold their story. They reported that Maurice       heard voices. Sometime he would sit up all night in their lounge and yell and       holler at people no one        could see.               Once Maurice took a vacation in Ireland. When he returned he told the Sun that       most of the time he felt like he was in Quebec City because total strangers in       the streets knew intimate details about him and openly commented when he       passed them.              Picture of Maurice: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzLH7OK1tjb       Y3p4cmF6NjQtVFE/view?usp=sharing              JL 01-10-16              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
