XPost: can.politics       From: none@present.com              The Wynne government and the Auditor General, and the Financial       Accountability Office, have been disputing the size of the deficit.              At the root of the issue is whether or not the surpluses in pension plans       where the government can be responsible for a shortfall can be counted as       government assets.              But it's a very short step from counting a pension surplus as an asset to       actually taking the funds.              The biggest surpluses in question belong to OPSEU, the Ontario Public       Service Employee's Union, and to the OTPP, the Ontario Teachers' Pension       Plan.              Yesterday, the largest teacher's union endorsed the NDP.              I suspect that this may not be a complete coincidence.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
