|    Ford's cabal floundering a little after     |

Looks like it. They know they have to do something before the October 22       election date for Toronto but they can't seem to move the impediments in their       way to chop the city Council in half.              They can't appeal the judge's decision in time for the election. So they're       asking that same court to 'stay' Judge Belobaba’s ruling - as if it didn't       happen - so that Ford and his gang can move forward in their slashing       unapposed. Good luck with        that, Ford.              The appeal was filed by the City of Toronto, not your gang. The court ruled       in their favour and against your cuts. The court case is over - and cannot be       'stayed'. A case can only be stayed if it is still in process - this one has       been nailed down.              Your route is to try to appeal the City's appeal and for that you need to find       a legal error made by Judge Belobaba in his ruling. Otherwise, you're gonna       be sweet outa luck.              There's another problem for Ford and his gang: the earliest date that Bill 31       - the one to supersede the failed Bill 5 - could pass is September 24. That's       because amendments have been proposed by the opposition parties and those must       be discussed,        voted on and passed or amended again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯               If the City Clerk of Toronto decides that the advanced polling date of Oct 10       cannot be met, she may cancel advanced polling. If that happens and a whole       lot of people who will not be in the city on Oct 22 cannot vote, there are       gonna be some very big        lawsuits coming down the pike from people who have been deprived of another       Constitutional right: the right to vote [section 3]. Try beating that one,       Ford.              Two very interesting notes on the contents of Ford's latest Bill to get passed       in the Legislature:        _________________              456.1 (1) Pursuant to subsection 33 (1) of the Canadian Charter of Rights       and Freedoms, the amendments to this Act made by Schedule 1 to the Efficient       Local Government Act, 2018 are declared to operate notwithstanding sections 2       and 7 to 15 of the        Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.              Human Rights Code              (3) The amendments to this Act made by Schedule 1 to the Efficient Local       Government Act, 2018 apply despite the Human Rights Code.       _____________________________              Wow. Even trying to by-pass the Ontario Human Rights Code with this Bill.       Good luck with that bit of shit, Ford.              This looks slightly promising though:       https://myvote.toronto.ca/home       ________________________________              https://www.lawtimesnews.com/staticcontent/images/img1243_PG06-l       wtoonaug0618_Aug6.jpg              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
