|    'They are not closing our damn plant'    |

Where Doug Ford fails Ontarians again, their Union saves their jobs.              Remember this from Ford when GM announced the closure of the Oshawa plant? . .       .       __________________              Ford said he asked if there was anything the province could do to prevent the       shutdown. He claims the automaker told him "that ship has already left the       dock" and that the facility will be closed regardless of government       intervention.       __________________              That asshole that currently sits as Premier of Ontario is fast to cut taxes       for the rich corporations - but shrugs in resignation when it comes to the       jobs of average Ontario workers - especially the unionized ones.              Well, their Union head promised - Nov 26, 2018:       _____________              'They are not closing our damn plant'              Jerry Dias, national president of Unifor, blasted GM's move, which he says       violates its agreement with workers. He praised those who work at the plant,       which is about 60 kilometres east of Toronto.              "You're the No. 1 plant that [GM's] got," he told the crowd.              "They are not closing our damn plant without one hell of a fight."              Dias said the union is sick of GM outsourcing Canadian work to Mexico and will       spend the next year fighting the planned closure and will do whatever it takes       to keep the jobs in Oshawa. He suggested the Canadian government could       implement tariffs on        Mexican-made vehicles.              "Sisters and brothers, buckle up," he said.       ____________________________________              Yesterday:              GM to keep Oshawa plant alive, preserving 300 jobs — and hope of more to come       Plant to be transformed into a supplier of aftermarket parts for existing       models and test track for autonomous vehicles              General Motors of Canada will keep its Oshawa operations partially alive,       investing $170 million and preserving 300 jobs as it transforms the plant into       a supplier of aftermarket parts for existing models.              The automaker will also use 55 acres of the Oshawa property to create a test       track for autonomous and advanced technology vehicles.              “This new business will retain 300 Oshawa jobs with the intent to grow and       generate significant additional jobs in the coming years as the business       attracts new customers,” said GM Canada president Travis Hester, who       announced the move alongside        Unifor president Jerry Dias Wednesday morning.               GM Canada’s announcement today is good news for our auto workers in       Oshawa. I’d like to congratulate & thank @JerryPDias for his tireless       efforts to protect these jobs. There’s more work to do to support our       workers, and we will never stop        fighting for them & their families.        — Justin Trudeau (@JustinTrudeau) May 8, 2019       ____________________________              Fuck that loser, Doug Ford, who today cut:              - $892 million from Social Services,       - $93 million from Education,       - $212 million from job creation programs and even       - $5 million for oversight for seniors' Retirement Home Regulatory Authority.               Those are just "average Ontarians" who don't need to thrive and survive. But       all hands on deck for the next round of tax cuts for the wealthy and the       largest corporations!              Ontario has done, over and over again, what Albertans have done: re-elected       the foxes to the hen house. . . . because those foxes sure can spin a tale at       election time, can't they?               --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
