Onboard sound chip seems to have died and now goes undetected by several
Operating systems. 

I never used the slot on left of this laptop (PCI? PCMCIA??) Recommend a sound
card for it, whether current or old?

Or, a supported USB sound stick, though I will pay for superior.

(Yes, I know at this age, it is time to be sure I am always backed up. This is
the first hdw failure.)
