and wouldn't you know it... i decided to beat on it again and be damned if i
didn't get it to work as desired! [sigh] it was a convoluted process but i do
now have it coming up in true 80x50 mode instead of 80x50 stuffed into an
80x25 window like it had been doing... it took a combination of settings in
syncterm and at least one or two to the pif (again) specific to starting
syncterm...

anyway, it now jumps back and forth between 80x25 and 80x50 for those systems
configured as such...

this is one time i'll say "thanks for pissing me off" :LOL: though it wasn't
you personally that go me going but that a piece of software apparently knew
better than i did what i wanted :)
