I don't know if You mean the same thing, but I had heard somewhere or
read somewhere that that somebody had gotten the source code and was
working on it and upgrading it, but was worried what to name it after it
was a finished product so as not to get into trouble. that had to be at
least 2 years ago, and I believe he was bluffing, but spent a lot of
time acting like he was actually working on the project.

Does anyone remember UltraBBS, which was a Dead ringer for PCBoard? I
even remember a lot of boards switched to UltraBBS for a while as I
think the author was about 15 and only charged like 15 or 20 bucks to
register, but it pretty much was exactly like PCBoard. 14.? I think.
