   This effort to save them is WAY too late. And there is a large   
   salvage operation going on to save a lot of the interior   
   fixtures. Most of it is going to a dealer in Baltimore but some   
   of it is staying here to be stored in a warehouse in NE   
   Phila.

   There have been ideas for the land ever since the plan to move   
   the Convention Center to Center City came about which means   
   we're talking about 15 years ago or more.   
      
   Besides who, today, remembers PGH(Phila. General Hospital), which used   
   to be across the street from these buildings, and is currently   
   a medical research complex for Penn and CHOP. So the old   
   Convention Center buildings will be nothing but a quaint memory   
   eventually.   
      
   I love old buildings but you can not save every old building.   
   I'd rather see *jobs* be created in the city and that's what   
   will happen once the old Convention Center is gone.
