I don't know why this is in a NY group, except I used to live in Philly and
moved back to upstate NY. Guess what? My asthma and my wife's disappeared
after a few years (and had improved immediately).

The air in Philly sucks. It's worse in Camden, and we were there too
attending school. It's also bad in the Lehigh Valley (Allentown) where we
lived as well. Pennsylvania is filled with petty ex factory workers who
think cheap government is good government and intelligence is dangerous.

Some of it may be power plants, but it's mostly the damn cars. There are a
few solutions. If you value your health - move.

To help the pollution you can conserve. Stop driving and walk. Cut power
plant pollution by cutting electricity usage (duh, electric cars are dirty).
Install compact fluorescents, efficient computer monitors, etc. Air dry
clothes. Use cold water for dish and clothes washing. And so on.

But don't expect the average idiot to pitch in to save the earth. They'd
rather choke to death on their own filth first. So, realistically, if you
want changes, move. Then act responsibly and you'll have a short respite and
   a wish and a hope.
