From: mas215@adelphia.net              I was talking to a friend about the first ATMs. Before the George machines,       I remember having a PSFS account in the early or mid 1970s and the branch on       Cottman St near Large St had an early version of the ATM. It was       mechanical, not electronic, you put your card in the machine and a       roller-type display asked you how much you wanted. A drawer opened and your       money was inside. Again, I don't remember the exact year, but from what I       recall it was one of the first ATMs in the Philly area. Can anyone confirm       (or deny) this? Just a friendly bet, she says that they started with the       George machines from Girard Bank, but I KNOW I used one at the PSFS on       Cottman. Thanks.              mas       Boynton Beach, FL              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
