I don't think we focus on the punishment issue at all. On all the fiction
and non fiction tv shows and movies , we somehow are told what led to a
killing or violence, be it disrespect, jealousy and rage or a money issue
and how the crime was solved or jury trial result. I think we need more
punishment and not less . Like I said before more time in prison without
   perks and no death penalty.

Oh Jezz, then lets NOT side on a jury system where everyone has to agree on
the verdict? Not 2/3 but everyone. Thats about as fair as I can imagine, so
if they are guilty thats enough for me. I am not for killing them , I am for
   setting a deterrent .

Working and buying toothpaste is NOT A PERK.

    I never said I didn't.

   > problem by robbing a bank.

No punishment? I don't think so. Most people don't committ violent
crimes period. Those that do , don't do so because they are prone to be
fearless! Those people who had good bad or no families and bad friends as
   role models do .
   > A kid with a gun isn't thinking "Okay, I'll pull the trigger. I mean,
   > prison isn't that bad. It has cable TV. If it didn't have cable TV,
   > I'd just put this gun down and walk away." Get real.

GET REAL , if that guy with the gun saw his peers in jail more often
screaming at night , without a computer or radio and tv and no way out for
life, they might think differently. If that kid was taught a ethics class
earlier in school and was taught how to empower themselves when family is
not around, they would think twice. Acting out and violence is a natural
progression to people who don't know how to channel the frustration of not
having the skills to compete or cope .
