XPost: phl.media, phl.announce, phl.media       From: bradspeaks@yahoo.com              I would like to think I will move from Philadelphia someday. My impression       also is       not good. I am in the trades and professions and besides the shrinking       middle class and elderly , you have tons of people on drugs on every corner       , where before the person who sold drugs on the corner has been replaced by       the person who sells drugs and lives on every block. You have a growing hard       core of dysfunctional young people , and many plumbers and electricians are       out to scam people. If the news media wants to do a special on how many       plumbers and electricians scam people with work that may or may not needed       to       be done, they should or could go on forever .One scam going around is for       plumbers to tell homeowners they can't turn off water valve to fix indoor       plumbing. They will have to excavate and dig up your front outside to turn       water or       sewer valve off. They rent a piece of equipement and charge you close to       1000 dollars .Many plumbers know of this and even good ones say nothing. If       you know of this happening to you , I urge you to report them to better       business bureau or have your work rechecked to see if this work was really       needed.Even call the Attorney Generals office. Chances are it was not       needed. Ok I did my two cents to criticize and get       my point across.              "mcs" |
