Thus illegal would       > lose       > > their jobs, become unemployed ... hence there is no incentive to be       > legal.       > >              People that enter this country illegally, and who consume its resources, are       an insult to the many immigrants that have applied for entry, waited their       turns on waiting lists, and have passed our entry criteria. The United       States, I understand, take in more legal immigrants than any other nation in       the world. No one can accuse this nation of being unfriendly to immigrants.              Illegals are quite another matter. A significant percentage of them become       involved in crime when they arrive here. There are ruthless Mexican gangs       that now operate in the mushroom farming areas of Delaware County--this is       not a problem that is confined to the border states anymore.              Our insane legal system prohibits schools, medical facilities and other       public service institutions from reporting illegal aliens to INS. So, once       they set foot on U.S. soil, they can educate their children, receive medical       care etc., courtesy of OUR tax dollars.              The United States has the legal and moral right to exert control over who       enters this country, and how many immigrants we can absorb in any given       year. That may mean that, in times of recession, we can not afford to       absorb as many aliens as we can during good times. The only way that we can       control our destiny is to take control of our borders.              I cannot understand this relatively new notion that anyone, from anywhere,       regardless of education or criminal background, has a "right" to come here       and to take advantage of our country. My grandparents entered via Ellis       Island, and had to go through a medical evaluation and some degree of       background check before they were allowed entry. Please don't try to       suggest that the millions that came over through Ellis had it easy. They       followed the rules, and anyone that wants to take up residence here now       should follow the rules, too.              If they really want to be good Americans, as so many of them claim they do,       they can start off by obeying our LAWS regarding legal entry.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
