XPost: phl.media       From: ArtClemons@aolSPAM.com              I'm puzzled about why some folks are over-reacting to how state legislators       get the equivalent of a raise and will get a lawful raise after the next       election that affects said legislator. There seem to be much better issues       to be upset over, like for example, how lobbyists have so much sway in       Harrisburg, or why schools are underfunded despite a provision in the       Commonwealth Constitution holding that the legislature is to adequately       fund public education, or why laws banning things or increasing penalties       seem to be the focus of how things work. For that matter, I wonder if most       voters even realize how beholden state legislators are to those who provide       funding to run for office and how little voters matter if they vote for the       best funded candidates.              I'm sorry but it's past time people began to think, the amount of money       going to pay raises is trivial to the money being lost in tax revenue       because legislators heed the word of lobbyists, or lose new jobs because       education is so awful in its two biggest economic engines, Pittsburgh and       Philadelphia.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
