Yep, I just replied to your comment on the original posting, which you then
replied to, which I replied to .... :-) I agree with you that the original
post didn't call for any action or suggest any solutions to the oncoming
problems. On the other hand, it's impossible to attempt any solutions to
problems if you're not aware of them. I thought the original post was
interesting( and relevant to this group) not because it was about global
warming in general, but because it dealt with the effects of global warming on
the N.E. U.S. specifically, of which we are a part. Perhaps it would have
been better if the poster had advocated some courses of political action that
could apply at the local level, but I don't think he has any more answers to
the potential problems than any of the rest of us. The fact remains, however,
that if the effects he wrote about are likely to occur, now is the time for us
to start making plans to deal with them and I don't know of any better
mechanism for doing that than the political system.

At any rate, we can agree to disagree about the relevance of the posting to
this group, but, at bottom, the ideas contained in the posting have got me
thinking about how to use our local institutions, business, educational, as
well as political, to try to deal with the oncoming climate changes so that we
can, hopefully, dodge the bullet if and when they do arrive. And I suspect
that was the entire point of his posting where and when he did.
