   That's probably true in third world countries and, now,   
   China.   
      
   But I would argue that that can't possibly be true in the US   
   since we've been de-industrializing for going on 40-50 years and   
   the pace is quickening as we shunt more and more factory   
   work overseas.   
      
   Our health problems here, I will continue to argue, have more   
   to do with how people manage or do not manage their   
   lives and the lame-brained decisions they make   
   because of our ridiculous, self-indulgent/don't-deny-   
   yourself-anything culture and from  peer   
   pressure. What causes an otherwise smart young person   
   to smoke when we all know that it's dangerous other   
   than parts of our culture that are telling that   
   person that smoking is cool?!
