XPost: phl.media, phl.misc, pa.politics       From: mcs@nospamyahoo.com              Sometimes, incredibly enough you , I or everyone must admit there is a       problem for anything to be done about it. In many places across many time       zones , even in this county people don't have to worry about crime like one       has to do in this city. People can go and come and work at bettering       themselves and the community around them including their neighbors. Here you       have to spend the same amount time trying to protect yourself or loved ones       from people who are trying to scam you or harm you or think they are because       of the reality of crime. I have made suggestions , like more cameras and       locking people up in jails, without computers and without tvs, and without       cigarettes or contraband and THEN show them crying about their condition and       make that a deterrent rather then showing the crime or criminal going to       court in crime shows. If you commit murder, you get a slab to lay on , you       don't get a death penality because to me thats too good for them and many       criminals want that. A real detterent is not torture, its keeping them       locked up without any perks from our society. If our forefathers didn't have       tv or computers or meth, then criminals don't need it either and they       certainly are not tortured without cigarettes. We will show what a lousy       life or should show what a lousy life they will have looking forward to       absolutely nothing each day until they die. That to me shown over and over       would be a better deterrent than what we have now.How little time we give       the victims of crime is sickening. We undervalue their significance and       assume a criminal has the right to do that . When I hear the newsperson       glance over the many victims , its very disheartning. Next story! We can't       deal with the reality too long, next story! .       "Jim Orfanakos" |
