XPost: ba.politics, dc.media, soc.penpals       XPost: alt.burningman       From: jasonc2@neverumind.org              VD, STD, STI, HIV and HTML. One of these things is not like the       other. Can you guess which one?              About 1 in 10 people surveyed by coupon website Vouchercloud       thought that HTML was a sexually transmitted disease. HyperText       Markup Language, aka HTML, is the language used to develop       websites. No condom required.              Vouchercloud conducted the survey because it wanted to know how       much its customers knew. They asked 2,392 men and women around       18 years of age and older a range of questions having to do with       technology. Not everyone got the questions right.              Here are a couple of other mistakes they made, according to the       LA Times:              • 27 percent identified “gigabyte” as an insect commonly found       in South America. A gigabyte is a measurement unit for the       storage capacity of an electronic device.              • 42 percent said they believed a “motherboard” was “the deck of       a cruise ship.” A motherboard is usually a circuit board that       holds many of the key components of a computer.              • 23 percent thought an “MP3? was a “Star Wars” robot. It is       actually an audio file.              “It seems that quite a few of us need to brush up on our tech       definitions,” a company spokeswoman said in a statement.              http://news.discovery.com/tech/robotics/1-in-10-think-html-is-a-       sex-disease-140305.htm                             --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
