This is interesting because before I calibrated my monitor a few days ago,  
I'd *always* had the default yellow on grey and it had *always* looked  
just fine. However, now it doesn't and I have to agree that it *is* quite  
hard to read :(

Yep, I've changed mine to red on grey and that looks *much* better.
