Well, you will have trouble because GoldED+ *cannot* be used as an  
external editor in OpenXP because GoldED+ does *NOT* support OpenXP's  
proprietary message base format.

Undo all the changes you made in the external editor config and see if  
that brings the built-in message editor back.
