sometimes software packages like Winpoint create areamgr requests automaticly
if you include echolists (lists of echos that can be requested from the
bossnode)

but you also can manualy write an areafix or areamgr message.

manual areamgr request:

you're running as point  1:229/426.36
so your bossnode is   1:229/426
so you can write a netmail to:

From: Alan Beck, 1:229/426.36
To  : Areamgr, 1:229/426

Go to Winpoint's menu:  Fidonet - Echoarea Management
probably in the left window you have a list of echos available. You can select
/ doubleclick echos to get them to the right window. You can also press the
%LIST button. Once anything changed the Send button becomes selectable.
Press the Send button and the request goes to your bossnode.

If the left window of the Echo Area Management is empty, you first have to
frequest an echolist from your bossnode.
Within Echo Area Management window - select menu:  Areas - Add Area List to
include the echos list from your bossnode.
