New York City will have its first Muslim mayor. According to right-wing media,
this is a reason for at least a million New Yorkers to leave.

Frankly, it would be a blessing for the city if that actually happened,
because real estate is exorbitantly expensive and affordable housing is hard
to come by. So, if a million people did leave, it would, in a sense, be a
blessing for New Yorkers who could stay. However, it's not going to happen.

But something funny has been done by some people who wanted to add fuel to the
fire of the far-right. Just to prove how stupid they can be.

The far-right itself already suggested that Sharia law would be introduced.
Bullshit, of course, and that message barely caught on. But some trolls did
come up with a different approach. One that was taken seriously as a scandal.

Mamdani was going to make the use of Arabic numerals mandatory in New York
schools.

The great thing was, Grok, Musk's AI tool, picked it up and ran with it.

That turned the spark into a raging fire.

The far-right went completely nuts at X. It would be a disgrace, and this
isn't my US anymore... According to Grok, there were millions of views on
Mamdani's shameful (so-called) statement.

Well... until it slowly dawned on them that the numbers 0 through 9 are Arabic
numerals...

Originated in India, but brought to Europe via Arabia and then became the
global standard. Those numbers are already taught in New York schools... No
one has a problem with them. Well, except the far-right now... But they don't
have a better alternative. They'll have to swallow it... They're teaching
Arabic numerals in schools in the US... The scandal!
