  Was talking about this very thing at work the other day.

The "One China" policy, while keeping the peace for the last 50 years has
always been a schizophrenic policy, and really only sustainable if China
remained militarily weak.   Which in the last few decades it is definately not.

While it established a detant with China and alllowed them onto the world
stage economy wise, and allowed the US's military industrial complex to sell
weapons to Taiwan, it did nothing to solve the underlying political issue with
China, and is a thorn in the side of the Communist party since their inception.

It will be interesting to see what happens when push comes to shove.  None of
the Asian Countries with the exception of Cambodia want China to a power in
the South China Sea.  A lot of bad blood there!  Viet Nam would probabbly come
down as one of our allies.  (Bob Dylan's - A Simple Twist Of Fate).

In the end though - A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL DIE.
