I know what you mean.

So a local area built a brand new school building, then used it for, maybe, 2
years.  Then they decided that there weren't enough kids and closed the school,
consolidating all the kids in an older school in a "central" area.

The new school building was sold and turned into apartments (which is weird). 
But later it was found that the building was sold for pennies on the dollar to
a school board member who then flipped it to another company for a very large
profit to make the apartments.

It's like they don't understand the term "conflict of interest" here.

At first, the actions of the school board - and the member involved - was
strange.  But then I realized that because of the dropping birth rates, schools
have excess real estate.  And the people on school boards seem to be closet
crooks.

That's only because she HAS to let you speak according to the law.  So she
won't give you any extra.

School boards are sort of like Democrat-run gov't's on the small scale.
