That's utter nonsense, because the US can place as many military bases in Greenland as it wants. The 1952 treaty is clear about this. Oil then? No, it's not oil either. In this case, it's rare earth metals and uranium. These are present in abundant quantities in Greenland. However, there are three major problems. 1. The climate. It's a very cold and unforgiving environment. 2. The mineral resources are found in layers of soil that are very labor-intensive. The combination of certain metals and rock types is remarkably unfavorable. 3. There is absolutely no infrastructure. How can you possibly move enormous quantities of material across a country with no roads, no railways? So, exploiting Greenland's resources is nothing more than a dream. More a matter of "I have something to say about it in theory" than "I actually get something out of it" in practice. . --- SBBSecho 3.34-Linux * Origin: Vertrauen - [vert/cvs/bbs].synchro.net (1:103/705) SEEN-BY: 10/0 1 102/401 103/1 705 105/81 106/201 124/5016 128/187 SEEN-BY: 129/14 305 153/7715 154/110 214/22 218/0 1 215 601 700 810 SEEN-BY: 218/840 860 880 226/30 227/114 229/110 112 134 206 300 307 SEEN-BY: 229/317 400 426 428 470 700 705 266/512 280/464 291/111 292/854 SEEN-BY: 301/1 320/219 322/757 342/200 396/45 460/58 633/280 712/848 SEEN-BY: 902/26 5075/35 PATH: 103/705 218/700 229/426 |
