You're doing a great thing for your kid. Guns for my wife and kids are on my
long-term shopping list. I don't think there's a shooting range in my town
though. Everyone just fires their guns off in the neighborhood :(

I have slightly more than an acre of land (1.09) up north near Watertown. Is
that enough land for any target practice? It looks like it's all just open
land in the back of the property (no houses or anything.)

I'm reading up on this now and the only shooting range in my whole town is
"The Binghamton Rifle Club" and their membership fees are pretty steep!
Membership is $135 "with $5 dues and a $10 key fob."

Does this sound typical to you? I don't really understand it.
