I think that threat itself is enough to force the Liberals into their holes.

The Left may not like to teach history, but they don't fully ignore it either.
They know what happened when the non-industrial South seceded from the U.S. 
The North didn't win the Civil was because they were better at war.  The North
won because all the manufacturing was in the North and the South was populated
mainly by lazy people.

They know that the U.S. won in WWII mostly because of our industrial might.
