The bruiser who fatally sucker-punched a 64-year-old man in Queens, then
bragged on Facebook about it surrendered himself to police Monday, nearly
five months after the deadly blow, cops said.

Police charged Mathew Smith, 42, with criminally negligent homicide and
assault.

Smith punched Patrick Gorman, 64, at the intersection of Queens Blvd. and
Main St. in Briarwood just after midnight on June 26., according to
authorities.

Investigators believe Gorman bumped into Smith’s wife, Elena Makarova, 39,
and said "I'm sorry, excuse me," — only to be socked by Smith.

Makarova, who remains at large, took to Facebook Sunday — two days after
the Daily News first reported Smith’s online remarks — to defend her
husband.

“Tmes (sic) and so relevant!!! I love you hunny. Hold ur head! It's so
ignorant of people to jut read the papers and take it as if God talking!!!
Nobody shows the footage where this man pushed me, curse me out, called
matt n/$$@...I'm not feeding into this s---. All I can say is get ur facts
straight!”

Hours after the alleged attack, Smith wrote, “I had to put my hands on
somebody last night,” as a status update.



“Dude thought it was ok to disrespect wifey while on the bus thinkin'
nobody was gonna pop up. Not gonna go into details but I had to smack'em
to sleep,” Smith wrote in a comment later that day. “I kinda feel bad
though cause of what he had to deal with last night on Queens Blvd.”

Gorman was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, then transferred to Jamaica
Hospital, where he died later that day.

Smith surrendered at the 75th Precinct stationhouse in East New York, cops
said.

He said nothing as cops led him out of the 107th Precinct stationhouse
Monday night.
