From: chrisjbrady@gmail.com A new graphic from 1882 has come to light at Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_in_Barbados http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Barbados_Railway_-_The_Graphic -_8th_February_1882_-_displayed_in_Sunbury_Plantation_House,_Barbados.jpg or rather: http://tinyurl.com/barbadosrailwaywiki This coloured engraving / print was actually on display in Sunbury Plantation House. It was photographed skewed to avoid light reflections. Then the image was straightened using IfanView and the free Adobe 8BF plugin 'perspective'. There is the briefest glimpse of a train in the 1930s film 'Windmill in Barbados.' http://www.colonialfilm.org.uk/node/6734 Does anyone know what the engine is and where it was built? It would have been to the original 3'6" gauge. CJB. --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03 * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1) |
