Railpace reported that Amtrak eliminated certain extras that first class
passengers received, such as wine and cheese, a lounge car on the Auto Train,
etc.

Most people agree that this sort of thing is counter-productive, as it will
lose more revenue from disgruntled passengers than it would save in costs.

Railpace blamed Amtrak management.  But was it really their choice?  It seems
that it was forced upon them by Congress, who has been complaining about food
service costs.  Any thoughts?
