Preparing for looming budget battles with the Democratic-controlled
Legislature, Gov. Jerry Brown warned Friday that lawmakers must balance
"desire and need" for expensive social programs - even as he defiantly
doubled down on support for the increasingly unpopular high-speed rail
system, saying it remains emblematic of his passion to "build great
things" in his final term as governor.

In a wide-ranging editorial board meeting with The Chronicle's editors and
reporters, Brown presented a lively case - characteristically peppered
with Latin phrases and literary references - for a fourth term in office,
arguing he has helped create an "unprecedented" 1.3 million jobs, reduced
unemployment, and put the state back on a track for an economic comeback
that is the "biggest in the country."

"Tell me how you're going to beat that?" he said, laughing. He then added:
"I'd just like to keep that going and not screw it up."

Brown was most passionate in his defense of a high-speed rail plan
connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco, a 520-mile project expected to
eventually cost $68 billion. The projected outlay has drawn scathing
criticism from Republican gubernatorial candidates Assemblyman Tim
Donnelly and former Treasury official Neel Kashkari, who has dubbed it the
"Crazy Train."

Jerry's lights were never very bright from an economic perspective. Jerry
and his staff of Democrat fools, have never considered the total lack of a
market for the high-speed rail transportation requirement between Los
Angeles and San Francisco.

They think if they build it, people will come.

They're wrong.

Why would people from Los Angeles or San Diego want to travel to San
Franciso in the first place?

San Francisco is crowded, dirty, expensive, and full of male perverts who
think nothing of dropping to their knees on a public sidewalk and sucking
off a complete stranger.

What family is going to want to travel 12 hours one way to see that?

12 hours you say?

12 hours. The "high-speed" rail will have to bus people over the
grapevine to Bakersfield, where the point of actual train origin will
begin.

The plan of Brown and his band of morons, will have the "high-speed" train
stopping at various towns along the way between Losa Angeles and San
Francisco.

Business they say.

No Jerry. You and your band of nitwits are living in the past. We don't
travel for business anymore. Especially in California since you are
driving out all the top businesses with excessive taxes and over-
regulation.

Maybe Jerry and the Dummycrats should consider building the high-speed
train to Texas, since that is where the bulk of the revenue producing
businesses of California are headed as fast as they can pack and leave.
