It might.  However, for detecting those it would be best to inspect the
track before the oil train passes over it.  Some of these lines have a
lot of oil traffic over them, but if the line is in such poor condition
as George describes, it seems to me it is likely a secondary line of
some sort.  The secondary line near here that receives the most oil
traffic only gets two of those 100 car trains per week or so.  I would
think this line might be something like that.

If a car with the ability to do certain base track inspections were put
to use there, I would rather see it on the daily lumber mill train.
That's more likely to find incipient defects than the twice per week oil
train.
