If it's not, something's wrong. It's telling that so-called "economic conservatives" scream for Amtrak to be privatized, yet have no problems at all with airports and toll facilities being publicly owned and operated*. The real solution for airports and toll roads are for them to be owned, financed, and operated entirely by the airlines, just like the Union Stations of railroads. Naturally, those airports would pay business taxes and of course property taxes, just as railroad terminals did and did dearly. Tell that to a conservative and watch them freak out. *I can't help but suspect that the airlines love the present system since it saves them a ton of money. If they really didn't like it, they would've built their own airports in the first place. --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03 * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1) |
