|  DMUs for Union-Pearson  |

From: ahk@chinet.com http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=493058&nseq=4 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Pearson_Express Nippon-Sharyo is assembling DMUs for Union Pearson Express, Toronto, a rail service to run between Toronto Union Station and Pearson International Airport. Wikipedia notes that they meet Tier 4 air pollution emissions standards and that they're convertible to EMUs if desired. I'd like to know if they meet FRA buff strength requirements or if they're nonstandard for use in United States passenger service. The picture is on the Rock Island. That's the Armour Institute building and one of the Mies IIT buildings. btw, the AAR car engineering test facility was once located there, but that work was long consolidated with the Pueblo facility. The photographer is standing on the 35th Street rail station platform. The plant is in Rochelle, Illinois, where UP and BNSF to Saint Paul cross and where there's a railroad viewing platform. I think they just have access to UP. They come in on UP and must use Saint Charles Air Line to access Rock Island. Not sure what the rest of the route is, but good to know that they're not trucked. --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03 * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1) |
