|  Donner Pass tunnels  |

From: mjohnconnor@hotmail.com Just been on the California Zephyr and a very good trip it was too. All the potential pitfalls people logged on trip advisor did not seem to arise. My question is on the westbound trip through the Donner Pass, we seemed to go through only 1 real tunnel ( thought lots of snowsheds) between Truckee and Colfax. Am I right with this or did I miscount them? Also it was on a section of the western ascent and was where there were 2 tunnel portals and the date on them was something like 1880's or 1860's. Been trying ever since to work out which ones they were and how many have now been bypassed since? Any helpful pointers would be appreciated. Many thanks, Martin --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03 * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1) |
