Assuming engines are running and independent is applied, and automatic air brake (train air) is applied in a service application: Release the air brakes on the train. Next release the hand brakes. If for some reason the trains was to move with hand brakes release, you then "have the air" to use to stop it... (Train would have to be on a substantial grade for this to happen). Once the hand brakes are released and brake pipe is charged, do an "application and release" and check brakes on/off on the rear car. If that test is good, should be ready to go. (Note: this assumes brake pipe was charged and brakes were previously applied in a service application. If train had no air in brake pipe, and had been sitting for some period of time, I believe rules now require that train be charged, brakes applied, entire train walked for both application & release before proceeding). --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03 * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1) |
