|  Get your Amtrak dinnerware, cheap  |

From: johnl@iecc.com I was recently at the Corning Museum of Glass, which has a dandy gift shop. The have Amtrak dishware made of Corelle, a very sturdy kind of opaque laminated glass. Corelle was introduced by Corning Inc. in the 1970s, which is why the museum has it, but has since been spun off to a separate company. They must have gotten an awful lot of it when Amtrak switched (unfortunately in my opinion) to plastic plates in their dining cars, because it's now marked down to 99c per piece. There are dinner plates with the Amtrak logo, plain salad plates, bowls some of which are plain and some of which have an Amtrak blue line around the rims, and little bowls for nuts or ketchup or whatever. It's not in the online catalog but I expect if you can't visit soon (the museum is terrific) you could call the shop and they'd be delighted to ship the stuff to you. --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03 * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1) |
