|  regarding "amtrak" vs. "amtrack"  |
|  10 May 15 21:51:06  |
From: dannyb@panix.com XPost: nyc.transit I have this nagging memory that back in 1971, when the National Railroad Passenger Administration was considering a new name, they considered using "Amtrack" (with the "c") before they settled on "Amtrak". I seem to recall someone or another actually finding official documents with the longer name from that time and ref'ing them here or in another train oriented group. Obviously if there was any such proposal it didn't last very long.. Does this jog anyone's memory? Thanks muchly -- _____________________________________________________ Knowledge may be power, but communications is the key dannyb@panix.com [to foil spammers, my address has been double rot-13 encoded] --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03 * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1) |
