It looks like the train started accelerating soon after exiting the
previous curve, which suggests that due to loss of situational
awareness, the Engineer may have mistaken that curve to be the Ford
Curve which immediately follows the Frankford Curve, and the speed limit
after that rises to 110mph. Just one hypothesis that fits the observed
facts. There could be others too that need to be discounted before one
settles on a specific hypothesis as the most likely.
