Last trip amongst many others I SH> managed to catch the Beech Mountain RR My favourite Railfan thing to do in my advanced years is the "dinner trains" .... often pulled by steam. Like the "Flamingo" 3 hour dinner trip behind an ex-L&N 4-6-2 Pacific. Or just to the south a few miles My Old Kentucky Dinner Train in Bardstown. After touring the odd whiskey distiller (Bardstown is a hub for bourbon) jump on the R.J. Corman RR for a two hour trip and a gourmet lunch. They also offer some special evening deals - like a bourbon trip and a "Murder Mystery" trip. The Corman RR is definitely a short line having 30 miles of track and is a working railroad providing freight service in addition to the groceries. If you're going to Florida for Dizzy World - have you considered the "Auto Train"? Board you and your tribe w/auto in Lorton, VA (Washington D.C. area) and ride the 18 hours to Orlando. Get the kids worn out with Mickey Mouse then railfan on the way home. ... America, where if you put mayo on a potato it becomes salad. --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.49 * Origin: SouthEast Star Mail HUB - SESTAR (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 1/120 123 14/0 15/0 18/0 19/36 90/1 105/81 106/201 116/18 SEEN-BY: 120/331 340 123/0 25 35 40 126 131 150 160 170 180 200 755 SEEN-BY: 135/392 153/7715 218/700 226/30 227/114 702 229/424 426 428 SEEN-BY: 229/700 1016 1017 230/150 152 240/5832 249/206 317 250/1 SEEN-BY: 261/38 100 266/512 267/155 275/100 282/1038 1056 291/100 SEEN-BY: 291/111 301/1 320/119 219 322/757 340/400 341/66 342/200 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/280 640/1321 712/848 801/189 2320/105 3634/0 12 SEEN-BY: 3634/15 119 5020/1042 PATH: 3634/12 261/38 301/1 229/426 |
