   We are sometimes governed by neurotic leftists who do fit the description of   
   irrational, making decisions at the wrong end of their spinal cords, Vietnam   
   for example. The Soviets saw a reflection of themselves. Then a Reagan or   
   Thatcher comes along and they wither.   
      
   Star Wars was the same game in return, a Hollywood spectacular as Reagan   
   knew how to create it. Russians have admitted privately to me that their   
   response really did destroy their economy. They could cook the books but not   
   eat the results.
