|    Fein Slugger - A Few Months Out    |
|    10 Jan 26 17:35:45    |
From: none@none.com99              Now that I have been running the Fein Slugger for a few months I have to       say I like it a lot. I can see why so many shops use the Evolution       version for a lot of their metal cutting.              I have only used the bandsaws for stainless, and one piece of aluminum       since getting the Slugger setup. I do have to stand there the whole       time its cutting, unlike the horizontal bandsaws where I can turn it on       and walk away. However it cuts aluminum bar for rough mold blanks       easily ten times faster than either band saw. Probably more like 20       times faster. While I do have to stand there and work the saw its so       much faster its actually more efficient.              The one piece of aluminum I've cut since with the band saw was a piece       of ten inch wide bar stock that just wouldn't fit in the Fein. 7 or 8       inches is the max width on the Slugger, and I have to move the fence to       get more than 6.              Slugger is also decent on general hot rolled steel tube and bar, but I       wouldn't count on much life with alloy or stainless. I'm still using       the same blade it came with.                     --       Bob La Londe       CNC Molds N Stuff              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
