The PS1 game's       light sourcing on the models exposes the joints far more dramatically,       but I bet during gameplay the animations exposes the joints all the       same. I have personally preferred texture mapped model detail over       early goraud shaded detail for this reason, amongst others. The effect       was a very buggy effect that did not look natural, but could *seem*       natural. Better texture detail was what video games had always been       based on (how many light sourced sprites were there, really).        It all depends on how you view the medium as an art form. If it's       just a business (i.e. the Microsoft and Sony fans' excuse), then it's       all about what sells the best obviously being the best "overall". If       it's all about popularity, then it's all about brand recognition and       which company "seems" the most stable. If it's about the games (which       all claim but few are willing to discuss), then it will be about what       works, on each individual game's basis. Straight ports just don't work       all that well in the last mode.              --       Scott              http://www.gamepilgrimage.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
