Thanks guys. I found these as I searched while waiting for replies.
However, these are not the game I am looking for. I saw pictures but
they didn't ring a bell. yes, theys eem like it. But still not the
   same.
Is there a one stop complete list of Megadrive games that you know of?

The game was so special because you could fly around a galaxy and get
in orbit around a planet and send down a little vehicle that used fuel
and had to be taklen abck on bioard before ir tan out. You could shoot
and stun creatures that you could sell at a starbase and there weren't
many of those. If your ship ran out of fuel, emnergency call would get
you back but cost you so much, it would set you back enormously. You
could mine panets by douing a scan of the surface and then drill using
   the vehicle.

There were wormholes that tranported you elsewhere but that was
dangerous because of the fuel proble. The game came with a starmap.

Perhaps it is one of the games you guys mention....but it doesn't feel
   or see like it. Strange.

I loved the game that I borrowed from a freind who worked in a
videostore who rented them out but the game crash completley at a
certain point. Even a complete restart didn't help.

Tje idea to use mining vehicle was phenomenal to me.

The Underdogs carries these games, so you can download them.
