From: bel@whipassgaming.com              > I would be very disappointed if it stays the same size as the years go       > by.              Well, it's just getting to a point where the hardware just simply can't       be shrunk much more. I mean, you've got the motherboard, video memory,       ram, hard drive, power supply, etc. It's a lot to pack in there, and       it'd be a lot to shrink down. Though, again, it could be done...I just       don't see if happening anytime soon.              > I guess it doesn't really matter as long as the games are good, but I       > have enough systems to the point where I look at size as being an issue       > with prospects.              I have to disagree here. Size, to me, shouldn't be a factor at all when       considering a system(a console I guess I should say, that GB Micro is       just *too* small). ;) I mean, you pop it on the shelf, that's it. Hell,       you can't even really see how big the Xbox is when it's stacked under my       34" HDTV and above the big-ass Kenwood receiver. I think my biggest       issue with the sizes of the consoles are these idiotic notions(that       Sony, Nintendo, MS are cramming down our throats) that they should be       situated and set up *vertically*. To me, that's just dumb.              > I don't like the new trend with consoles having fans, hard drives, etc.       > These things break eventually, or at least they always have with PCs.       > Next thing you know we'll be installing the games before playing them.       > Ugh.              Well, it's kind of already happened. The original Xbox uses its hard       drive(up to a gig, I think) to cache out data on games. The PS3 took       this a step further and some games can take up to 5 *GB* on your PS3's       hard drive, and take 4 or 5 minutes to do so(before the game is even       launched). It reminds me of the old the way the old Neo Geo CD did       things: One long-ass load at the beginning, then various super-small       loads throughout the game. I don't know, ever since the Xbox hit, loads       haven't bothered me that much...but then again, they've definitely       gotten a lot shorter...              >> Have you ever seen that LCD they made just for the Xbox? Really does look like a big-ass laptop or       >> something...and with the Xbox's PC architecture, it could be.       >>       >> Bel       >       >       > No, I haven't seen anything like that.
