   retromags.com has been doing some magazine scans, but mostly just older   
   issues of Nintendo Power.  The only thing Genesis related I've seen from   
   them was one issue of Sega Vision.  I got my copies from uploads to   
   alt.binaries.emulators.misc, but there haven't been any re-uploaded in a   
   while (just NP 1-3 back in mid-November).   
      
   I've scanned one issue of a classic (pre-Nintendo) game magazine myself,   
   and it's a lot of work.  Of course the scanning process is easier if you   
   don't mind cutting the magazine up, but most people don't want to do   
   that.  Making a searchable text PDF would be even more work, assuming   
   you had good enough PDF tools to do that right.   
      
   And don't forget the black construction paper.  Most magazine pages are   
   thin enough that the text from the other side will shine through.  You   
   need the black paper on top to reduce the effect.
