i really liked egm back in the day. i remember when they reviewed phantasy
star 2 and gave it a 7, 9, 8, 8. in the picture box there was a picture of
the game that was not like the finished verison -- in EGM, when a character
was talking to a villager, you see a close-up view of the villager in a
separate box. Someone check to see if my memory is correct! lol

i also enjoyed reading the first issue of Mega Play that's on retromags. i
remember reading that very magazine on the bus when it first came out. my
friends and i took the public bus to the mall, it was a huge thing back then
to actually go to the mall by yourself. i got mega play and on the ride back
drooled over the preview of phantasy star 3 (how does this tie into PS2?),
and the reviews of pat riley basketball, moonwalker, and super monaco gp. i
was such a sega fan that i had to import "super real basketball" (pat riley
basketball in the states) from die hard as well as phantasy star 3 and
thunder force III. That summer my friend John and I sawed the sides of
Thunder Force III to make it fit into the Genesis. It worked! I recall also
getting DJ Boy that summer, 1991.
