From: bel@whipassgaming.com              I sent a message about this in yesterday, but it never showed up...here,       or on Google Groups. I don't know what's up with this new, free server.       Sadly, I deleted the "sent" copy...but I'll try to reconstruct it to the       best of my memory...              > My Genesis collection is up to 100 games, but I still don't have any       > games for the Dreamcast. Running Dreamcast MAME is really the only       > last gasp attempt I can make to find some use for it. I've got a few       > ROMS that my PC is too slow to run. I need to know if the Dreamcast       > can run them (although my gut says it is too slow.) Can anyone check       > these for me? If not I'm just going to put the system up for grabs.              The only decent emulation on the DC is mostly for 8 bit systems(NES,       SMS, GB, GG). SNES and Genesis are pretty sad. Oddly enough though, Neo       Geo CD emulation(for certain titles) is pretty good.              On selling the DC, I'd wait until you *actually get a DC game* to try       out. ;) I mean, try to get something great...something that really       defines the DC and see what you think first(maybe Sonic Adventure 1). I       just can't see selling a system off because its homebrew community is       really lacking in talent. ;)              Of course, I guess you could always use the DC money to get an Xbox, it       can emulate a *lot* of stuff perfectly. I hear Neo Geo and MAME       emulation on it is bad-ass.              > Spider-man the arcade game              There's no way this will run on the DC. They can't even do TMNT *1*       without slowdown(even on the Single Game MAME emulation).              > outrun              I doubt it. Then again, there's always Yu Suzuki's GameWorks on the DC       that has a perfect version of the game, as well as others. I think       Shenmue 1 or 2 may even have this one in it(not sure).              > golden axe 2              Not a chance in hell.              > rolling thunder 2              This may run alright...but you'd probably have a better experience using       one of the sub-par Genesis emulators and that rom. Of course, you've got       a Genesis, get it there! :)               > Galaga 88              Most likely. It's really early, not-so-graphically intense, smaller       games that run well in DC MAME(and that's about it).              PCs are pretty cheap nowadays, if you want I can link you to a place       where you can get a Pentium 4 for, like, $150 or a Pentium III 1ghz for       $70. From there, all you'd need is a video card with an S-Video output       and you're ready for non-stop MAME on your TV!              Bel       --       Whip Ass Gaming: http://www.whipassgaming.com/              "What could possibly go wrong?"        - Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
